Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES)

Delivered four Emerson Energy Control Systems for compressed air energy storage (CAES) projects, supporting the control of primary drive trains and power generation systems across 30–100 MW energy storage applications.

While compressed air energy storage continues to face well-recognized round-trip efficiency challenges compared with mature technologies such as pumped hydro storage, we believe that utility-scale deployments are essential to advancing the technology. Projects at this scale generate the operational data needed to validate performance, refine system design, and help narrow the gap toward commercially viable long-duration energy storage.
